About
Clinical Care
Overview
Michael Lipcan, MD, is a general gastroenterologist who says the best part of his job is interacting with patients and the variety of conditions he treats.
Dr. Lipcan evaluates and manages gastrointestinal bleeding, malignancies (specifically colon cancer), celiac disease, and liver disease, including hepatitis C infection.
“What I love about gastroenterology is how I get to see patients in the office and also perform procedures,” he says. “Every patient and procedure is different and there are frequent advances in technology and medications I can offer patients.”
Dr. Lipcan says he enjoys how each patient is unique. “Even if the complaint is the same, no two patients bring the same thing to the table, and I like that challenge of figuring out what will help each person,” he says, adding that he considers himself approachable, “I do more listening than talking, at least initially, and I think that’s important in creating a good relationship.”
Furthermore, Dr. Lipcan says he likes to take his time with each patient and make sure all of their questions and concerns are addressed. “If someone needs something explained a second or third time, I do that. I think it’s appreciated and really improves their care,” he says.
