Biography

Dr. Kim is a board certified general and critical care surgeon. His clinical interests are in trauma, surgical critical care, burns, emergency and elective general surgery. His research interests include trauma and burn resuscitation, inhalational injury, and surgical infections. He is an instructor of Advanced Trauma Life Support.

Dr. Kim received his undergraduate degree at Pomona College and medical degree from Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. He received fellowship trainings in surgical critical care from New York Presbyterian / Weill Cornell Medical Center and in burns from the US Army Institute of Surgical Research. He also completed a masters of public health at Columbia University.

Dr. Kim is a US Army Veteran. He served four tours, with forward surgical teams and a field hospital, to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. He was also stationed in Germany and Korea. Dr. Kim retired as an Army Colonel after 20 years of active duty service.

Dr. Kim is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Yale School of Medicine in the Division of General Surgery, Trauma and Surgical Critical Care.
