Biography

I hold a PhD in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2023) - a reference center for teaching and research in Brazil and in Latin America, ranking among the best in the world - where I conducted pioneering research on the therapeutic potential of extracellular vesicles secreted by mesenchymal stromal cells in sepsis-induced acute kidney injury. My academic journey also includes a Master’s degree in Biophysics (2017) and a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (2014) from the same university.

My postdoctoral research at the Ameen Lab, Yale School of Medicine, focuses on the impact of acute stress on kinase signaling and CFTR function in SGK1 knock-out mice. Previously, I was a postgraduate research visitor at St Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto, where I investigated the role of TMi-018 in modulating macrophage activation during cytokine storms.

I have played a key role in numerous collaborative projects at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, contributing to studies on the therapeutic effects of nitazoxanide in COVID-19 pneumonia and the benefits of mitochondria isolated from mesenchymal stromal cells in experimental sepsis. At Yale University, I have contributed to research on the effects of Dex alone and Dex+Trikafta on CFTR localization in hdF508 mouse jejunum, as well as on CFTR High Expresser (CHE) Best4+ cells, exploring new implications for intestinal physiology, diarrheal disease, and cystic fibrosis. My extensive research experience spans various domains, including developing animal models of renal, respiratory, and intestinal diseases, molecular biology, and cellular culture techniques.

I have been recognized with the AGA Fellow Abstract Award (2024) and an honorable mention at the XXXVI Annual Meeting of FeSBE (2022). My contributions to the scientific community are reflected in my publications and presentations at international conferences, highlighting my dedication to advancing our understanding of complex biological processes and potential therapeutic interventions.
