Dr. Xinxin (Katie) Zhu, MD, PhD, Executive Director of the Yale School of Medicine’s Center for Biomedical Data Science, was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI) at the 2024 American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) Annual Symposium. The induction ceremony, held on November 10 during a special dinner, celebrated Dr. Zhu’s exceptional contributions to the field of medical informatics.
ACMI Fellows are elected annually by active members of the College, a distinction that signifies outstanding achievement in advancing the discipline. As ACMI President Kevin B. Johnson, MD, MS, FACMI, FAMIA, FIAHSI, noted, “It has become extremely competitive to be elected into ACMI. This group of experts stood out in terms of their reach and impact.” He emphasized that the Fellows represent excellence across academia, government, and industry, demonstrating leadership, experience, and scholarship. “Together, their important contributions to biomedicine and healthcare inform, educate, and inspire the informatics community to improve human health,” he added.
Dr. Zhu’s election to ACMI adds to her notable recognitions, including her induction as a Fellow of the International Academy of Health Sciences Informatics (IAHSI) and the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) for her significant contributions to health informatics on national and international levels.
Earlier this year, Dr. Zhu was also appointed as the sole representative of the North America Medical Informatics Region for the International Medical Informatics Association’s upcoming global conference, further solidifying her influence and leadership in the field.
