Tobias Wasser, MD, associate professor adjunct of psychiatry, and Rocksheng Zhong, MD, MHS, lecturer in psychiatry, are co-editors of the book, “Psychiatry and the Law, Second Edition.”
According to Springer, the book’s publisher, the book is designed to help new psychiatrists and other medical professionals confront the complicated legal and ethical issues that arise at the intersection of the mental health and judicial systems.
In the book’s second edition, Wasser and Zhong have updated several chapters with new information and added chapters that cover topics not addressed in the first edition. Each chapter begins with a clinical case vignette.

Wasser is professor and chair of psychiatry for Quinnipiac University’s Frank H. Netter School of Medicine and chair of psychiatry for Hartford Healthcare’s Fairfield Region. Zhong is associate professor and director of forensic services for the University of Texas Medical Branch’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
