The Yale Surgery Citizen Awards committee has named Benjamin L. Judson, MD, MBA, Charles W. Ohse Professor of Surgery, the 2023 recipient of the Dr. Walter E. Longo MD Award. The award is presented to a faculty member in recognition of their contributions to the Department of Surgery. Past recipients include Ronnie Rosenthal, MD, Ronald Salem MD, and Nina Horowitz, MD.
“The Dr. Walter E. Longo MD Award was established in 2019 to recognize those who lead by example. Members of our faculty nominated Dr. Judson because he is attentive, fair, equitable, consistent, reliable, and encouraging,” said Vanita Ahuja, MD, MPH, MBA, chair of Yale Surgery Citizenship Award committee.
Dr. Judson is the chief of the Division of Otolaryngology. He attended Middlebury College, obtained a master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania, and graduated from Jefferson Medical College. He completed a residency at Georgetown University Hospital in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery, and a fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in head and neck surgical oncology.
