Manu Sharma, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry, has been appointed to the American Psychiatric Association (APA) Committee on Innovation as a member.
Sharma’s term begins May 26 and will conclude at the close of the 2025 Annual Meeting.
The Committee on Innovation is a subcommittee of the APA’s Council on Medical Education and Lifelong Learning, with a special focus on Digital Health and Digital Psychiatry. The council monitors emerging issues and supports the development of resources and programs for psychiatric education in the United States at every level. These efforts include premedical education, medical education, graduate medical education for residents and fellows in psychiatry (both basic education and subspecialty areas), psychiatry aspects of graduate medical education for other medical specialties, and postgraduate continuing medical education, and lifelong learning.
As the unit chief of the inpatient psychosis unit at Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital, Sharma aims to develop digital health tools that will help improve care of patient struggling with chronic and serious mental illness.
