It is our pleasure to announce that Dr. Christopher Teng has accepted the position of Vice Chair for Surgical Services for the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science effective immediately. In his new role, Dr. Teng will be responsible for the oversight and administration of complex issues related to surgical affairs that arise at YNHH as well as other hospitals throughout the Yale New Haven Health System.
Dr. Teng is currently Director of the Glaucoma Service and Glaucoma Fellowship Program and Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Science. He joined the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Science at Yale in 2014. He graduated with a degree in Economics from The University of Chicago and received his Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine. He completed his Ophthalmology Residency at New York University and completed a fellowship in Glaucoma at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Teng is the recipient of an Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and he has been part of the AAO Leadership Development program. He was also recently selected as one of 12 participants in AUPO’s 4th Academic Leadership Development Program (ALDP), in recognition of his potential for a future in an academic ophthalmology leadership role. Dr. Teng has served on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians. He has a significant interest in management and the business aspect of medicine. He has completed the Yale Emerging Leaders Program at the Yale School of Management and he is currently in the process of obtaining his MBA degree from Yale, which will be completed this summer.
