Create Automated Staff Listings and Profiles

January 21, 2013
by Justin Fansler

Shortly before the holiday recess, we launched a new version of profiles specifically for staff (anyone classified as a C&T or M&P). This article provides more information about the data displayed, how to create your staff list and how to edit your profile.

Data Displayed

Staff profiles show a limited subset of information from the profile system, including the fields listed below. To see an example profile, take a look at Lena Parker’s staff profile.

Creating Staff Lists

To create a staff list for your website, contact the Web Group at ysm.editor@yale.edu and we’ll help you get it setup and give you permission to edit it in the future. It’s an easy way to allow staff to manage their own profiles and maintain your staff lists from the profile system. To see an example of a staff listing automatically populated from the profile system, see the Web Group’s staff list.

Editing Your Profile

To edit your profile, please visit profile.yale.edu and complete as many of the data fields described above as possible. If you upload a profile photo, please make sure that it is professional looking (i.e. professional dress, no food, etc.).

For your "Bio" (labeled on the profile as your "Role at Yale"), you can follow this template:

  • How long have you been at Yale?
  • Briefly describe your previous roles at Yale
  • What are your current primary job duties?
  • Add a short personal sentence at the end if you wish.

If you have any questions about the staff listings or profiles, please let us know!
