Moreno Named Keynote Speaker at Indigenous Child Welfare Act Conference

Marcos Moreno, MD, a fourth-year resident and public psychiatry fellow, has been selected as the keynote speaker for the Indigenous Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Conference in Tucson, Ariz.

The four-day conference, held Oct. 8-11, is sponsored by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, of which Moreno is an enrolled member.

The conference is a national event for Native American tribes throughout the country with an expected attendance of over 600 people, including Arizona state and national policymakers.

Agenda topics include ethics and the law, the impact of state laws in improving foster care outcomes, culturally responsive recruitment and retention within indigenous communities, a self-care discussion, and a United Nations human rights panel.
