He is a long-term member of the National Academy of Medicine, was a founding Governor of the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute, a Board member of the American Board of Internal Medicine, a member of the Advisory Committee of the NIH Director, and a leader in many other organizations. Among the many awards he has received is the China Friendship Award, the country’s highest accolade for foreign experts, for national research initiatives in China. At Yale, for more than 20 years, Krumholz led the National Clinical Scholars Program at Yale (nee Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program), a program designed to prepare future healthcare leaders through scholarship and action.

He has served as the editor for Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes, CardioExchange, and Journal Watch Cardiology of the New England Journal of Medicine. With Joseph S. Ross, MD, MHS, he co-founded medRxiv, a free online archive and distribution service for preprints in the medical and health sciences and the Yale Open Data Access Project, an initiative to promote open science and facilitate the sharing of clinical trial research data.

Krumholz has been faculty at Yale School of Medicine for over three decades and has held the Harold H. Hines, Jr. Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) chair since 2005.

“Dr. Krumholz is a visionary scientist, clinician, and teacher, who has established himself as an internationally prominent advocate for data dissemination and has exemplified through his own work the highest standards of rigor and accountability in science,” said Eric J.
