Eligibility

The Yale integrated six-year cardiothoracic surgery program accepts two candidates per year. Applicants must have graduated from a U.S. or Canadian medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), have graduated from a U.S. college of osteopathic medicine accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or be ECFMG certified.

All applicants must apply through the Electronic Residency Applicant Service (ERAS). Yale participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP), for which the applicant must register. Applicants need to provide a completed application, personal statement, three letters of reference, medical school transcript, Dean’s letter, USMLE transcript. Information can be found on the ERAS website.

Invitations for interviews will be offered on a rolling basis following review of the ERAS application. In accordance with ACGME recommendations, virtual interviews will take place November through early January.
