Maxwell Scott Hauser Laurans MD
Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery
Dr. Maxwell Laurans is a Clinical Instructor and Staff Neurosurgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery at Yale. He has a full-time clinical practice at Yale-New Haven Hospital and the West Haven Veteran’s Administration Hospital. Dr. Laurans's area of clinical interest is in the minimally invasive treatment of spinal disorders and neuro-oncology. He also holds a position in the Chief of Staff’s Office of Yale-New Haven Hospital improving the delivery of quality care in neurosciences and in the neurosciences intensive care unit. His research interests include efficient delivery of health care, appropriate use of information technology, clinical trials, outcomes studies, and new technologies and innovations in neurosurgery.
Dr. Laurans was born and raised in Providence, RI and obtained his bachelor's degree in Economics at Yale University. He continued his education at the Yale School of Medicine where he received his Doctor of Medicine degree with Honors and was elected for admission into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), medicine's highest honor society on graduation. After medical school, Dr. Laurans completed his residency in Neurological Surgery at Yale. Dr. Laurans also holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Harvard University.
