Message from Chief Loren Laine, MD

December 12, 2022

Dear Colleagues,

Yale Digestive Diseases has lots of good news to share with you as we head into the last days of 2022.

Rosemarie L. Fisher, MD, Professor Emeritus of Medicine (digestive diseases), presented the 2022 Rosemarie L. Fisher, MD, Excellence in Graduate Medical Education Awards again this year. The awards recognize the accomplishments of our colleagues in internal medicine in honor of Dr. Fisher, who devoted much of her Yale career to GME. You can read more about the award, and the recipients, below.

Bubu Babini, MD, PhD, assistant professor (digestive diseases), was a faculty leader of the inaugural Yale Conference on Alcohol Research and Education (YCARE), an interdisciplinary day of learning. Recently, she was selected for an Early Investigator Career Enhancement Program Award offered through an NIH U54 Specialized Center of Research Excellence on Sex Differences in Alcohol Use Disorder at Yale.

In news related to the Yale Liver Center, Michael Nathanson, MD, PhD, received the 2022 Distinguished Service Award from the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and our annual Hepatology Visiting Lectureship was renamed the Klatskin-Boyer Lectureship to honor James L. Boyer, MD, who established the Yale Liver Center in 1984.

Congratulations to all!

Wishing you happy and healthy holidays.
