Inflammation
Activation of cells of the innate immune system, including neutrophils, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells trigger inflammatory responses that bridge to initiation of adaptive immune responses by lymphocytes. The receptors and signaling molecules that control inflammatory processes and mediate the balance between immune activation and potential for tissue immunopathology are under intensive study.
