Several Yale obstetrics and gynecology medical students and residents, and Vice Chair of Education, Trina Salva, MD, MSEd, recently introduced approximately 60 high school students to women's health topics and procedures, such as menstrual management, contraception, normal birth, and minimally invasive surgery.

Women's Health Summer Pathways
This was the second year the department participated in Yale's Pathways to Science Summer Scholars Program, teaching local students about simulation and innovation in the field.
The Pathways to Science program is a two-week, on-campus science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) experience offered free of charge for students entering grades 10–12 from New Haven, West Haven, and Orange/Amity public schools.
“Volunteering with the Pathways Program is a great way to recenter ourselves as health educators,” commented Maria Valle Coto, MD, the department's chief resident for community engagement. “These kids are very excited to learn about reproductive health, and they bring a lot of joy and curiosity into the topics we share. It is a great opportunity to be able to teach and learn from their fresh perspectives.”
