Blumberg Honored With American College of Psychiatrists’ 2024 Mood Disorders Award

Hilary Blumberg, MD, John and Hope Furth Professor of Psychiatric Neuroscience and Professor of Psychiatry, and in the Child Study Center and of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, has been awarded the American College of Psychiatrists’ 2024 Mood Disorders Award.

The award, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the understanding and treatment of mood disorders, was presented during the College’s Annual Meeting on February 24 in New Orleans.

Blumberg is director of the Mood Disorders Research Program at Yale, which brings together a multi-disciplinary group of scientists to study bipolar disorder and other mood and related disorders across the lifespan to generate new methods for early detection and more effective interventions to reduce the suffering and suicide risk associated with the disorders. This research includes the use of new state-of-the-art brain scanning methods integrated with genetic, stem cell, and novel therapeutics research.

The program is also known for training young scientists to be new leaders in the field.
