The Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the following faculty promotions, as approved by the Board of Permanent Officers at its September 21, 2022 meeting: • Saber Ghiassi, MD, MPH, promotion to Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Clinical Track, July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2027. • Courtney Gibson, MS, MD, promotion to Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery in the Clinical Track, July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2027.
Recently Appointed Yale Surgical Faculty Dr. Maija Cheung to Oversee Clinical Skills Curriculum
The Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Vincent Mase Jr. to the position of Associate Program Director for Assessment to support the growth and integrity of its General Surgery Residency Program. In this new role, Dr. Mase will focus primarily on developing mechanisms that ensure the timely exchange of feedback among faculty and trainees across the system; in addition to maintaining compliance with regulatory bodies.
Connecticut Magazine recognizes Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital physicians as 'Best Doctors'
Connecticut Magazine has named 77 Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven physicians and surgeons to its 2018 Best Doctors guide. Published in the magazine's April issue, the Best Doctors list consists of 779 Connecticut physicians from 78 medical specialties.

Please join us in welcoming our newest faculty member, Matthew Hubbard, M.D., M.S., to the Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery. Dr. Hubbard joined the Section of Gastrointestinal, Bariatrics as an Assistant Professor in 2015.
