The Yale Center for Weight Management has been named one of Newsweek's America’s Best Weight Loss Clinics and Centers for 2025, standing out as the only facility in Connecticut and Rhode Island to achieve this honor.
“Our Center is distinguished by our esteemed team of experts in obesity medicine and surgery, and the comprehensive, integrated approach we take to weight management. We are proud to serve the Northeast and Nation,” said Dr. John Morton, Yale’s Chief of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Dr. Morton is one of three physician-directors leading the Center, alongside Dr. Wajahat Mehal and Dr. Ania Jastreboff. Together, they oversee a multidisciplinary team of approximately 20 physicians, including 12 bariatric surgeons, who provide a fully integrated, science-driven approach to weight management. The Center offers a broad spectrum of services, including dietary counseling and nutrition training at its on-site test kitchen, psychological support, advanced medical therapies, endoscopic procedures, and bariatric surgery. The experienced team has performed more than 10,000 successful procedures, with Dr. Morton alone conducting over 5,000.
In addition to addressing weight loss, the Center prioritizes improving health outcomes associated with obesity, including diabetes, fatty liver disease, heart disease, and joint problems. By combining leading research and medical expertise, the Center provides a seamless, patient-centered experience that enhances quality of life and reduces the risk of serious health conditions.
The Newsweek rankings are based on a national survey of medical weight loss professionals, as well as evaluations of four key quality dimensions: staffing, equipment, patient-centered care, and patient safety. Yale's inclusion on this prestigious, inaugural list reflects its commitment to delivering high-quality, comprehensive care for patients with weight management needs.
“As the program continues to grow, Yale’s Center for Weight Management sets the benchmark for excellence in obesity treatment and weight management, solidifying its position as a national leader in the field,” said Dr. Morton.
