Cynthia Dwyer will assume the position of chief of staff in the Yale School of Medicine’s dean’s office, effective March 16, 2020.
Dwyer has worked in project management for Yale Medicine (YM) since 2007. In her current role as director of project management she works with YM’s senior leadership to implement strategic priorities and such practice-wide projects as the CARE Center centralization, the Virtual Scribe initiative, and business office reorganizations, among others.
During her 13 years at YM, she has earned four Special Recognition Awards for her many accomplishments. She currently serves on the Emergency Operations Teams of Yale University, YM, and Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) and is co-chair of the Joint Business Continuity Planning Committee with YNHH. Prior to joining Yale Medicine, Dwyer worked at YNHH for more than five years as senior revenue analyst and reimbursement manager. Her familiarity with the school’s culture and the relationships she has built over the years will be an asset in her new role.
Dwyer says she is enthusiastic about assuming the chief of staff position—which she says encompasses much of what she likes about project management—and looks forward to learning more about the research and teaching missions of the school. “I feel I can put what I’ve learned to good use and help Dean Brown implement her vision,” she says. “That’s really exciting to me.”
