About

Biography

Josh is a fourth-year MD-PhD student in the lab of Sidi Chen at Yale, where he develops new approaches to gene editing and cellular engineering. His research explores genome engineering beyond CRISPR-Cas9, including multiplexed Cas12-based editing and RNA-guided integration. He applies these approaches to develop therapeutic strategies across a broad range of diseases, including cancer and autoimmunity.

Josh graduated from Brown University with honors in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Biomedical Engineering. At Brown, his research explored cellular mechanisms of pigmentation and GPCR-mediated signaling, and he contributed to functional genomic studies of genetic variants underlying human skin pigmentation diversity. At Yale, he builds on this background to develop new tools for studying biological systems and advancing gene and cell therapies.

Outside of science and medicine, Josh enjoys pottery, cooking, and walking dogs around New Haven.
