Biography
Dr. Erson Omay is Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery. After completing her PhD in Computer Science at Case Western Reserve University, she has moved to Yale to work on brain tumor genomics at Department of Neurosurgery as a postdoctoral researcher in GunelLab, where she worked on the bioinformatic analysis of large cohort brain tumor genomics projects. Since her appointment as Assistant Professor at the same department in 2020, she has been expanding her research projects into the integrative methods to study the multi level, multi-omic datasets, specifically focusing on tumor heterogeneity, rare subtypes or tumors with limited molecular mechanism understanding.
She has been leading the computational analysis arm of Precision Medicine effort at Department of Neurosurgery and is interested in the application of computational methods to improve and enhance the personalized approaches for primary brain tumors.
She is also building collaborations across the medical school to translate her computational expertise to other CNS related pathologies, such as as traumatic brain injury.
