Overview
Yeisid Figueredo, MD, is a specialist in neonatal-perinatal medicine. She focuses on caring for critically ill newborns, including those who are born prematurely or who have complex medical needs, closely monitoring their growth and development in a neonatal intensive care unit.
I chose a career in neonatology because “when I look in an incubator, I see potential for healing even in the sickest children,” Dr. Figueredo says. “I am incredibly grateful to be part of a team dedicated to the care of this vulnerable group of children.”
As an associate professor of pediatrics (neonatal-perinatal medicine) at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Figueredo is interested in improving outcomes for newborns in intensive care settings. Her work also includes exploring innovative strategies for neonatal care, coaching and mentoring future leaders in medicine, and collaborating with families to support them as they navigate their unique path through the NICU.
Dr. Figueredo received her medical training from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters. She then pursued fellowship training in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Yale School of Medicine.
