Family Violence Education Program

For more than three decades, the Family Violence Prevention & Intervention Program area of The Consultation Center was a statewide leader in the delivery of violence prevention services to adult offenders of domestic violence. Each year, Center staff conducted ongoing psychoeducational groups in anger and violence management for male and female offenders as part of its Family Violence Programs. Innovative groups also were developed for offenders with co-occurring substance use problems, for individuals who were monolingual Spanish speaking, and for women and adolescents.

Family Violence Education Program

Funded by the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch, Court Support Services Division, the Family Violence Education Program was a psychoeducational program designed to help participants prevent recurrence of violence in their relationships.

• 90-minute classes held one evening per week for nine weeks.
• Two experienced professionals co-led classes for men or for women.
• Participation in the Family Violence Education Program was an alternative to formal prosecution.
• Participants in the program were referred by their Family Relations Counselor through the court.
