(This ongoing study is funded by National Institute of Justice 2012-IJ-CX-0045 to Dr. Sullivan)
The overarching purpose of this ongoing study is to understand the influence of criminal orders of protection (issued by the criminal justice system in a criminal domestic violence case) on women who experience intimate partner violence (IPV). In particular, this study aims to:
- elucidate the process of criminal orders as a critical strategy to reduce IPV,
- increase knowledge about how criminal orders influence the daily lives of women, are associated with offender behavior, and impact children’s contact with offending fathers, and
- disseminate findings broadly to key audiences.
