Biography

My career research goals focus on advancing the understanding of biochemical dysfunctions in neurodegenerative disorders and identifying potential therapeutic molecules using rodent and nonhuman primate models. I possess a strong background in neuropharmacology and neuroscience, with specialized training in neurochemical and molecular biology techniques. During my doctoral studies, I established a neurochemical laboratory dedicated to quantifying neurotransmitters (catecholamines, GABA, glutamate) in toxin-induced models of Parkinson’s and Huntington’s disease, leading to promising findings with various candidate drugs. I further enhanced my expertise in molecular biology through advanced training at IBRO and ISN-JNC Schools and received several prestigious travel grants (IBRO-SfN, ISN-JNC, IBRO-APRC, WCN) to present at international conferences and foster collaborations. Following my PhD, I continued as a Research Associate before receiving an IBRO Short Stay Travel Grant in 2018 to train in in vivo imaging using primates at NYU Shanghai. In 2019, I joined Dr. Elsworth’s lab at Yale, contributing to primate studies on reactivating juvenile protective factors against aging and neurodegeneration. I later transitioned to Dr. Kaffman’s lab, exploring perineuronal nets and parvalbumin neurons in neuroprotection following early life stress. In 2024, I was promoted to Associate Research Scientist in Pediatrics, working on early life stress and immune dysfunction in sickle cell disease.
