Friligkou, Luchsinger Honored with 2025 Lustman Award

Yale Department of Psychiatry residents Eleni Friligkou, MD, MSc, and Joseph Luchsinger, MD, PhD, have been named co-first place recipients of the 2025 Lustman Award for Psychiatric Research.

The award, established in honor of the late Professor Seymour L. Lustman and made possible by a generous contribution from the Seymour L. Lustman Memorial Fund, is presented annually to outstanding physician-scientists for excellence in research carried out during their training.

This year’s honorees will present their award-winning research at Grand Rounds on Friday, May 30.

The 2025 Lustman Award recipients are:

First Place: Eleni Friligkou, MD, MSc: “Gene discovery and biological insights from a large-scale multi-ancestry genome-wide association study”

First Place: Joseph Luchsinger, MD, PhD: “Emergency gut-to-brain communication protects against dietary protein toxicity during recovery from catabolic stress”
