The aim of the project is to develop a collection of novel algorithms – The Target Trial Toolbox – for implementing the target trial framework. This framework is a design framework for causal inference from real world data. The framework is essential for pharmacoepidemiologic studies, but existing algorithms are fragmented. The toolbox will be grounded in Danish health data, with the ultimate objective of ensuring scalability on a global scale.
The toolbox will contain the most recent designs and analyses including the cloning-censoring-weighting design, the sequential trial design, the inverse probability of treatment weighting analysis, and the inverse probability of censoring weighting analysis. The Target Trial Toolbox will give researchers working within the field of pharmacoepidemiology easy-to-use tools for research, enabling fast, accurate, and impactful research for the benefit of patients.
