Tawwab Featured Speaker at 2024 Women's Mental Health Conference

April 26, 2024

The 2024 Women’s Mental Health Conference (WMHC) at Yale on May 3 will feature keynote speaker Nedra Glover Tawwab, MSW, LCSW, a New York Times best-selling author, licensed therapist, and sought-after relationship expert.

Tawwab, best-selling author of "Set Boundaries, Find Peace and Drama Free: A Guide to Managing Unhealthy Family Relationships," will present her keynote address "The Power of Boundaries" virtually as Yale Department of Psychiatry Grand Rounds on May 3 at 10:15 am.

In addition to the keynote, this year’s conference agenda will be completely virtual with panel discussions covering neurodivergence in women, contraception and mental health, and the mental health of caregivers. Session presentations from the WMHC community will explore additional topics throughout the day. A complete agenda can be found here.

The conference was founded in 2018 by former Yale Department of Psychiatry residents Sofia Noori, MD, and Stefanie Gillson, MD. It is the first academic and trainee-led conference on women’s mental health in the nation. Over the past several years, it has experienced exponential growth, reaching 1,500 attendees annually across the United States and internationally.

The volunteer organizing committee is comprised of resident physicians, graduate students, and advocates from across the world. The conference is led this year by co-chairs Erin Davidowicz, MD, a current fourth-year psychiatry resident at Yale’s Department of Psychiatry, and Maria Iuliano, a PhD candidate in neuroscience.

Previous keynote speakers have included V (formerly known as Eve Ensler), the writer of “The Vagina Monologues;” Tarana Burke, founder of the #MeToo movement; Roxane Gay, cultural critic, and author of “Bad Feminist” and “Hunger;” and actress and trans activist Dominique Jackson, renowned for her role on Pose.

Registration for the WMHC is now open, which is accessible to all and free to attend.
