Biography
Rajiv M Mallipudi, MD, MHS, FACP is a board-certified internal medicine hospitalist physician, healthcare systems clinical researcher, and passionate medical educator who currently serves as the Unit Medical Director of the Northeast 10 Cardiology Unit at Yale New Haven Health Bridgeport Hospital in the Division of Hospital Medicine, and concurrently serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He has previously served as the Unit Medical Director of the Northeast 9 COVID-19 Unit, West Tower 10 Stroke Unit, and East Tower 8 Med-Surg Unit at Bridgeport Hospital.
He received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University, a master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and a medical doctorate from the Avalon University School of Medicine graduating with both summa cum laude and President’s List honors. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Hackensack Meridian Health Mountainside Medical Center where he received numerous research awards in several fields. Recently, Dr. Mallipudi graduated as the first Hospital Medicine Fellow at Yale New Haven Health Bridgeport Hospital.
At Yale New Haven Health Bridgeport Hospital, Dr. Mallipudi led one of the first COVID-19 medical units, and served as the Physician Lead for COVID-19 in the Division of Hospital Medicine and collaborated with several teams and senior leadership members throughout the Yale New Haven Health system to address the ongoing patient needs during the COVID-19 crisis. He is also a Physician Lead for Transitional Care Rounds, which is an interdisciplinary committee that aims at reducing the length of stay within Yale New Haven Health Bridgeport Hospital. In addition, he serves on the Billing and Coding Curriculum, the Patient Experience Committee, and serves as a member of the Medical Executive Nominating Committee at Bridgeport Hospital.
He is also an active clinical researcher who has been involved with several QI projects. Recently, he led a QI project aimed at reducing the length of stay for patients that underwent surgical amputation for osteomyelitis by a mean of three days through an innovative electronic order set using Lean management principles. His research contributed to the Clinical Redesign Care Signature Pathway for the podiatry ulcer management algorithm. He then subsequently worked on an interdisciplinary QI project to enhance physician communication and patient satisfaction scores, as well as a QI project that assessed the oxygenation outcomes for non-ICU COVID-19 patients when in a prone position.
Dr. Mallipudi has a passion for medical education and enthusiastically volunteered to give dozens of medical lectures. Given his engaging public speaking and ability to teach, Dr. Mallipudi has won awards for outstanding poster and oral research presentations at conferences in diverse fields such as the Society of Hospital Medicine, The Oncology Society of New Jersey, and the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Mallipudi has also published manuscripts in diverse fields which include radiation oncology, hospital quality improvement, oncology, and preventative care.
Dr. Mallipudi looks forward to contributing each day towards the growth of Yale New Haven Health and Yale School of Medicine, being a positive role model for the resident physician and medical student community, and providing high-quality compassionate care towards all his patients.

Overview
Rajiv Mallipudi, MD, MHS, is an internal medicine specialist who treats conditions such as blood disorders and diabetic foot osteomyelitis. He is the unit medical director of Hospital Medicine.
