Biography

I am an Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Yale School of Medicine and Director of the Hidradenitis Suppurativa Clinic. My current research endeavors seek to uncover the underlying pathogenesis of inflammatory conditions. During my postdoctoral fellowship in the laboratory of Andrew Wang, I explored fundamental allergy biology and the role of manmade xenobiotics in the development of allergic disease. Over the course of my postdoctoral training and during my PhD in the laboratory of Katya Ravid, DSc at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine, I developed an interest in the impact of the external environment – from food preservatives and additives in topical products to the nutrients we ingest – on inflammation in the body, and in particular, at the skin barrier.

Overview

Anna Eisenstein, MD, PhD, is a dermatologist who practices general medical dermatology. She treats a wide range of skin conditions in children and adults, and performs skin cancer screening examinations.

She likes reaching a diagnosis for a patient and seeing them improve on therapy, as well as developing relationships with them through all ages and stages of life.

Dr. Eisenstein is also a researcher who is interested in the exponential rise in prevalence of eczema and food allergies. Her research aims to explore whether certain environmental factors can promote the development of eczema and food allergies.

Dr. Eisenstein has a particular interest in caring for and further our understanding of Hidradenitis Suppurativa, a debilitating chronic skin disease. As the director of the Yale Dermatology Hidradenitis Suppurativa clinic, she provides advanced care for patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa.
