The Zhou Lab

The Zhou Lab focuses on uncovering novel genetic risk factors and elucidating the genetic etiology of alcohol use disorder, substance use disorders, and their comorbidities using large-scale human genetic data.

In recent years, the lab has led several impactful genome-wide association and whole-exome sequencing studies in this field (PMID: 38062264, 39145449, 39892688, 41052974). Supported by NIH grants, the lab is now expanding its research by leveraging the largest whole-genome sequencing datasets available from major biobanks.

Current research areas include whole-genome and whole-exome sequencing, rare and structural variants, polygenic risk scores, functional prediction, causal variant fine-mapping, multi-omics integration, and data science approaches.
