The Dixit Laboratory

The Dixit Lab is focused on understanding the interactions between metabolic and immune systems with the goal of revealing molecular targets that can be harnessed to control inflammation and immune dysfunction as means to enhance the health span.

Significant Publication

The Dixit Lab was featured in the October 2013 Cell Metabolism Volume 18, Number 4.

This study investigates how the Nlrp3 inflammasome controls age-related inflammation and functional decline . The researchers found that the Nlrp3 inflammasome acts as a key sensor detecting cellular damage signals (DAMPs) that accumulate with aging, triggering chronic "sterile" inflammation throughout the body .
