Biography
Amelea Lowery (she/they) is the Community Outreach Manager at the Center for Community Engagement and Health Equity (CEHE) within Yale Cancer Center. Amelea is an experienced project manager and public health professional with a focus on community education, outreach, and training. Their graduate studies focused on addressing root cases and uprooting structures that perpetuate inequities. Throughout their career, they have worked with diverse communities to promote health equity, engaging in legislative advocacy on food security and environmental justice. At Yale, they contributed to groundbreaking projects, including developing digital tools for formerly incarcerated individuals and advocating for legislative policies that enhance access to nutritious food in sacrificed communities. Amelea has also led educational initiatives in environmental literacy, urban afforestation, and community engagement, empowering communities through research, outreach, and education.
