Overview
Isibor Arhuidese, MD, MPH, is a vascular and endovascular surgeon whose areas of expertise include aortic aneurysms and dissections, carotid disease, peripheral arterial disease, and hemodialysis access.
Dr. Arhuidese says he was drawn to vascular surgery because it allows him to offer patients different treatment modalities. “Some have been in play for decades, while others are novel and as cutting-edge as it gets,” he says. “I like the balance of old and new.”
The best part of his job, Dr. Arhuidese says, is talking to patients and their families. “I enjoy the opportunity to advocate for my patients and provide exceptional care that promotes their well being and quality of life,” he says. “I tell them that we are all a part of their team. We will listen to them and do everything we can to provide them with the best information to help them make the best decisions possible.”
Dr. Arhuidese promotes disease prevention strategies that help patients avoid surgical procedures if possible. If a procedure is needed, he applies current research evidence in determining the best one that fits each patient.
His research is focused on using small and large databases and artificial intelligence and machine learning to identify and address disparities in vascular surgery care. He collaborates with experts from public health, engineering, computer science, and other disciplines to promote solutions to vascular problems at individual and population levels.
