Yale Summer Enrichment Medical Academy
The Yale Summer Enrichment Medical Academy (YSEMA) is a free, residential 6-week program open to undergraduate students (current freshmen or sophomores) from Connecticut Community Colleges, Hispanic- Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Historically Black College and University (HBCU) that are interested in pursuing medical school. Students will participate in a comprehensive science curriculum designed to improve success in upper-division science courses that are required for pre-med students. The intensive course load includes: Introduction to Biology, Organic Chemistry (prerequisite of General Chemistry 1 and 2), Writing & Communications, and Introduction to Research. There will also be a series of workshops that focus on learning how to become a successful medical school applicant and how to navigate the application process. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to engage in clinical activities. There is no fee to attend, and students will receive a $1,000 stipend. Additionally, students will receive a meal card and be housed on the Yale School of Medicine campus. Travel funds will be provided on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please see our flyer.

The YSEMA 2025 application will open on November 18, 2024 and close on February 2, 2025. A completed application includes:
- One letter of recommendation
- College transcript (official or unofficial)
- Resume (including extra-curricular activities)
- Personal statement
- Diversity statement
