Clinical Care
Overview
Thomas R McCauley, MD, enjoys his work as a diagnostic radiologist in the Department of Radiology & Biomedical Imaging. “When discussing imaging results, I tell patients in easily understood language how these results fit into their care plan,” he says. “I have found that being clear, emphasizing the future plan, and always offering to answer any questions are important in reassuring patients.”
He considers himself lucky to have practiced in the field during a time of great technological advancement and to have access to leading edge technology.
“I am fortunate to have specialized in radiology when advances in imaging transformed many facets of patient care,” he says. “I was able to perform research in musculoskeletal and body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during its development as an essential tool for treating patients. I have been able to apply these developments to improve patient care on a daily basis.”
Dr. McCauley is an associate clinical professor of diagnostic imaging at Yale School of Medicine, which allows him pass on what he has learned in radiology to future radiologists.
