Marina Picciotto, PhD, Charles B. G. Murphy Professor of Psychiatry and Professor in the Child Study Center, of Neuroscience and of Pharmacology, has been elected to the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP) Council.
The term is for three years and will begin following the ACNP Annual Business Meeting on December 8, 2021.
Council members have a range of responsibilities. According to ACNP, the Council “transacts all business of the College including the approval or disapproval of all recommendations of all committees, and determines dues structure, and adopts rules and regulations for the election of the various classes of membership. Among its responsibilities, the Council creates and directs standing committees and elects editors and committees on publications.” Members also help to plan the ACNP annual meeting.
Picciotto has numerous leadership responsibilities at Yale. She is Deputy Chair for Basic Science Research in the Yale Department of Psychiatry and Co-Director of the department’s Neuroscience Research Training Program. She is Deputy Director for the Kavli Institute for Neuroscience.
