December 10 Faculty Meeting Update

December 10, 2018

Along with faculty recognition, the following people provided updates at the December 10 Department of Internal Medicine faculty meeting:

  • Vincent Quagliarello, MD, vice chair for education and academic affairs: Dr. Quagliarello discussed our residency programs, medical student programs, enhancements to Medical Grand Rounds, Yale Affiliated Hospitals Program, changes to YNHH Firms, faculty educator development and current department challenges.
  • Melissa Weimer, DO, MCR, FASAM, introduced the new Yale Addiction Medicine Consult Service (YAMCS). She gave a background on the opioid crisis, Yale’s Addiction Medicine specialists, and the YAMCS program structure, support team, experience to date, and future steps.
  • Donald Deyo, director, Export Controls and Senior Advisor for Contracts, provided a deep dive into Export Controls. Documentation was sent to Internal Medicine faculty and staff via email on Monday, 12/10. Since the Department of Internal Medicine handles a significant level of international travel and activities involving both technology and biologicals, it is the goal of Yale's Office of Sponsored Projects to ensure that all parties are aware of the current U.S. laws and regulations to avoid any compliance issues.
