Biography

Dr. Ferrante is a Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine physician at the Yale School of Medicine who conducts clinical outcomes research at the interface of critical care medicine and geriatrics. The overarching goal of her research program is to understand and improve the functional outcomes of older ICU patients. Her epidemiologic work has demonstrated the importance of an older person's pre-ICU functional trajectory on post-ICU disability and mortality, and identified novel factors associated with functional recovery after a critical illness. Dr. Ferrante's current work focuses on understanding the effect of preexisting vulnerability factors on post-ICU functional outcomes. She is currently funded by the NIH/NIA, the Parker B. Francis Foundation, the Yale Pepper Center, and the ATS Foundation.
