Dr. Mattera is Director of Operations for Yale New Haven Hospital Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE), which she co-founded in 1995. She is responsible for strategic planning and the management of staff and resources to support grants, contracts, and the evaluation of quality at the local, national and international level.
Dr. Mattera has a broad background in outcomes research. She has participated in the design and evaluation of many prospective and retrospective studies/registries evaluating quality of care including process and outcomes indicators, costs and length of stay, and assessment of patients’ functional status and quality of life. Dr. Mattera was part of the first team at CORE that developed CMS’ publicly reported outcome measures for AMI, heart failure, and pneumonia. She has experience with quantitative and qualitative techniques to discover hospital strategies associated with higher performance. Her doctoral research used a mixed-methods approach to evaluate factors associated with patients' adoption and adherence to a telemonitoring strategy in patients with heart failure.
