Biography
Having completed my residency in family medicine, I am now pursuing a fellowship in geriatric medicine with a dedicated focus on dementia care, particularly in the early identification and management of mild cognitive impairment (MCI). My clinical training has equipped me to deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care tailored to the nuanced needs of older adults. Additionally, my background in dermatology enhances my diagnostic acumen in identifying complex, multifactorial conditions often present in this population.
My early experiences, particularly growing up with my grandparents, fostered a deep commitment to improving geriatric care. This commitment drives my focus on optimizing cognitive health, mitigating fall risks, managing polypharmacy, and providing goal-concordant end-of-life care. My academic interests are centered on MCI, with a focus on understanding the transition from MCI to dementia, refining early diagnostic tools, and developing interventions that promote cognitive resilience and delay disease progression. I am particularly interested in identifying modifiable risk factors that contribute to cognitive decline and exploring lifestyle-based and pharmacologic strategies to preserve cognitive function.
Through this fellowship, I aim to integrate advanced clinical skills with research methodologies to address the challenges of diagnosing and managing MCI in diverse populations. By bridging clinical practice with translational research and public health frameworks, I seek to improve care pathways for individuals with MCI, enhance early detection efforts, and develop interventions that promote healthy aging trajectories. My long-term goal is to contribute meaningfully to improving dementia care by reducing the burden of cognitive decline through evidence-based strategies aimed at preserving independence and quality of life.
