Giovana earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in 2023, graduating with distinction. Her undergraduate research combined bioinformatics and biochemistry to tackle agricultural challenges, earning recognition at international conferences and support from a São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) scholarship. Currently pursuing a Master’s in bioinformatics at the University of São Paulo (USP) under Dr. Gabriela Felix Persinoti, her project focuses on microbiomic data to identify enzymes for plastic depolymerization. Joining the Nicoli Lab in 2024 as a postgraduate student, Giovana’s research explores how metabolic pathways influence genetic compensation in microRNA mutants. She aims to advance computational biology's applications in genetics, environmental sustainability, and industrial innovation, with her degree expected in May 2026.
