Yale Cancer Answers: 50 Year of Cancer Progress - Survivorship

February 03, 2025

On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Dr. Eric Winer interviewed Tara Sanft, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine (Medical Oncology and Hematology) and Director of the Survivorship Clinic at Smilow Cancer Hospital. Dr. Sanft is board certified in both medical oncology and hospice and palliative medicine, which helps her to treat the "whole person" and not just a disease.

This episode is the first in a 4-part series in honor of the 50th Anniversary of Yale Cancer Center and 50 years of cancer progress across disciplines. A National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center since 1974, Yale Cancer Center is one of only 56 Centers in the nation. "As a breast oncologist, I have a busy practice and enjoy taking care of women with newly diagnosed breast cancer. As the director of the Survivorship Clinic, one of the nation’s only multidisciplinary clinics specializing in cancer survivorship, I learn from patients about key issues after treatment. My research focuses on healthy lifestyles and quality of life after cancer," said Dr. Sanft.

Tune in next week to hear from Dr. Peter Glazer about advances in radiation oncology. All podcasts are available on YouTube and iTunes.
