Date set for first Research Agenda Workshop

April 23, 2015

The Partnership for Early Education Research (PEER) has scheduled its first Research Agenda-setting workshop for Tuesday, June 2 from 8:30 AM to 3 PM. PEER is a collaboration between Yale University School of Medicine, Cooperative Education Services (C.E.S.), Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), the State Department of Education, the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood, and the communities of Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stamford. PEER aims to conduct high-quality research that is accessible to practitioners and policy makers and can inform early childhood education practice in classrooms and decision-making at the local and state levels. Initial funding was provided by U.S. Department of Education, Institute of Education Sciences (IES).

The purpose of this day-long workshop is to gather input from representatives of the school departments, municipal governments, community organizations and early childhood practitioners of Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stamford, along with representatives from the State Department of Education and the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood, in order to develop a collaborative research agenda for PEER’s future work. The event will be held at the Leir Retreat Center in Ridgefield and is open by invitation only. The agenda-setting process will focus on:

  • Identifying unanswered questions of importance to PEER stakeholders
  • Assessing availability of data and resources (time, funding, personnel) for addressing these questions
  • Prioritizing questions to create a coherent research agenda
