Biography

Dr. Zhu specializes in interventional pain management and anesthesiology with Woodland Anesthesiology Associates, working primarily at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. He completed Anesthesiology residency at Yale-New Haven Hospital and additional fellowship training in Pain Medicine at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell. During his medical training, he decided to dedicate his career to the long-term care of patients battling chronic pain after seeing how pain that persists long after injury has healed can wreak emotional and physical turmoil on peoples’ lives.

He treats spine pain, neck pain, headaches, neuropathic pain, and cancer pain. He has a special interest in the most up-to-date advanced therapies for refractory pain, including spinal cord stimulation, intrathecal drug delivery, and regenerative medicine. He emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach that includes diagnostic and interventional procedures, medications, and therapy programs to help improve patients’ pain, functionality and quality of life.

He worked as an anesthesiologist at Greenwich Hospital from 2018-2022 and directed the Pain Management Service from 2020-2022. He was named to "Fairfield County's Top Doctors" by Greenwich Magazine in 2022. He has been published in several journals including Nature Communications, Regional Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, and A & A Reports.

Since 2022, he has been part of the Yale Medical Symphony Orchestra and Woodland Anesthesiology. He is a board member of the YMSO as well as the Hartford County Medical Association.
