ALUMNI BOOKSHELF: Jessica Gold, MD ’14 to debut first book in October 2024

Jessica Gold, MD ’14, serves as the Chief Wellness Officer for the University of Tennessee System and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Formerly, she held the position of Director of Wellness, Engagement, and Outreach at Washington University School of Medicine, in St Louis. Clinically, she specializes in outpatient psychiatry, focusing on college and graduate students and healthcare workers.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Gold is a prolific writer and a frequent expert commentator on mental health topics for major media outlets. Her insights have been featured in The New York Times, The Atlantic, NPR, PBS NewsHour, The Washington Post, InStyle, and SELF. Her debut book, "HOW DO YOU FEEL? One Doctor’s Search for Humanity in Medicine," will be published in October 2024 by Simon Element.

Dr. Gold holds a B.A. and M.S. in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, earned her medical degree from Yale School of Medicine, and completed her residency in Adult Psychiatry at Stanford University, where she also served as chief resident.
