MEDG: Scrambling for Ambulatory Placement Sites: How Do We Recruit and Retain Community Clinician Preceptors? (Co-hosted with General Internal Medicine)
A fundamental aspect of medical training is experiential learning through clinical placements. Academic outpatient practices cannot meet the needs of medical schools, therefore community practices that provide high quality preceptorships are in high demand. We will discuss what motivates clinicians to teach in the ambulatory setting, the barriers they face, and how to best incentivize these clinician teachers, exploring a collaboration between Northeast Medical Group and Yale School of Medicine as an example.
