Career development in the Langston Lab includes:
- Education: trainees benefit from a structured educational program at Yale, including weekly Research in Progress and Grand Rounds organized by the Department of Pathology as well as regular seminars and symposia organized and hosted by Y-Age and other Yale research centers. The position will provide opportunities to present research at national and international scientific meetings, fostering both scientific education and professional growth.
- Training: everyone working in the Langston Lab gains exposure to or experience with mouse models of acute and chronic exercise as well as other standard techniques, including but not limited to the following: multicolor flow cytometry, cell transfections and transductions, bioinformatic analyses of a variety of “omics” datasets. Training in critical interpretation and communication of scientific data will also be provided.
- Mentoring: trainees have frequent formal and informal meetings with Dr. Langston, in addition to regular interactions with colleagues in the lab, Y-Age, and Pathology. Dr. Langston takes mentorship seriously; he works directly with trainees to create a Professional Development Plan tailored to individual needs and long-term career goals.
