About

Biography

Nia grew up in Syracuse, NY before moving to Ohio to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Oberlin College. In her senior year, she conducted research with Dr. Laura Romberg, studying bacterial protein polymerization kinetics. After graduating, Nia joined the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard as a research associate in the Cancer Dependency Map and Dr. William Hahn’s lab. During her two-year post-baccalaureate training, she investigated genetic dependencies in cancer and performed CRISPR screens in 3D organoid models to compare dependency profiles between 2D and 3D cultures. She is now a doctoral student in Dr. Peter Glazer’s lab, where her research focuses on developing novel RNA-based cancer therapeutics and identifying genetic vulnerabilities in IDH-mutant cancers to uncover mechanisms of acquired resistance.
